So as KPMG have acted for Clitheroe Golf Club for twenty years why didn’t they use Clitheroe? Why Bridport and not Clitheroe?
That’s because Clitheroe Golf Club, like all the others, has systematically evaded tax on their visitors’ fees and they have done it with the help and connivance of KPMG, their accountants. Clitheroe has never paid tax on green fees. In fact they have never made any suggestion of paying tax on green fees.
And that’s because each year KPMG fiddle it. And each year KPMG reports in the Clitheroe accounts: “The company enjoys the status of an incorporated club and as such the liability to corporation tax only extends to investment income and chargeable gains.”
That statement is utter nonsense and shows that the large accountants are fiddlers and diddlers!
That’s why it’s Bridport and not Clitheroe. In fact that’s why it’s Bridport and not any of the others. Is Bridport the only honestly run club in the country? Probably!
Here are 2 sets of the accounts from Clitheroe GC. You can see the KPMG cheating for yourself! In 1996 look at green fees page 6 and the tax fiddle page 9. For 2010 – green fees page 13 and the same tax fiddle on page 15.
