Club Premises Certificates
This isn’t very important in terms of distortion but it shows the attitude to members’ golf clubs. Private members’ golf clubs usually trade with what is known a Club Premises Certificate which doesn’t allow them to serve alcohol to visitors. They are only allowed to serve alcohol to bona fide members and their bona fide members’ guests on site with the member. In addition they are usually allowed to serve alcohol to members of other associated clubs with the same kind of license.
As we all know the members’ clubs break these rules just as they break any other rule that doesn’t suit them. They shouldn’t be serving drink to green fee players and societies and at the weddings. In exchange for their club premises certificate there is less police control.
And technically their club accounts should be readily displayed.
In order to have a Club Premises Certificate this is the form they have to sign: Declaration for a Club Premises Certificate
